I joke that my womb-to-one kiddos get me my baby fix.
They walk in my door, mom toting her carseat with baby inside, and I pretty much say “hi mom” and then it’s all about me grabbing that baby for cuddles, kisses and snuggles. One of my favorite smells is the smell of a baby’s head.

Meet Connor – blogstalkers, we get to watch him grow every month for the first year of his life!

By the end of the shoot I had officially bored Connor…..so for now we’ll let the little guy sleep.

I had the SWEETEST e-mail sent to me today about my website and photos. (Photogs – you know the ones….those e-mails that pump you up and remind you why you love your job?!! Yeah – we love them!) It literally made my day and that’s saying a lot because today I have to go to Walmart, the post-office and the gym….yeah….it was that sweet.

Hey gang. I’m making a small change in my sitting fee prices, it’s something I’ve been thinking about for a few years now and it’s a change that my brain says “they’ll understand” and my heart says “it’s time”…..

My sitting fee M-F is $60.
My sitting fee on Weekends is going to increase to $100 (this does not apply to those of you who have already booked a shoot)

I have 2 main reasons for this change…..and their self-portrait is below

Madie is 8 now. Third grade…and this year suddenly the boys got interested and the girls got mean (wow – that didn’t happen to me until 6th grade!) Madie still holds my hand when we walk in the mall, she still want’s me there when we go to her parties and she still thinks I know the answers to her questions about how to deal with friends. The problem is I no longer get to pick out her clothes, her legs are too long for mommy to let her wear mini-skirts & she knows the words to most Beyonce songs….and worse….she dances to them. Madie is growing up….but…when she sweats she still has a few of those little girl curls that bounce right beside her face. Ya know, the curls used to take up her entire head, now I only see them every now and then, and only when she sweats. They are small bouncy reminders of my toddler girl who used to eat popsicles on my lap & watch Elmo.

Garrett. My G-man is already 6. When G hears about “bad guys” on the news he doesn’t worry because he still thinks his daddy can beat them up. When his feelings get hurt he’ll hold it together until he is alone with me, then he’ll collapse into tears and he’ll let me “rock” him back and forth…but the time it takes for me to calm him is getting shorter and shorter. He still wants me to tuck him in at night, but he no longer wants “pat-pats” on his back. G will occasionally still sit on my lap, but only if he’s tired or cold….and last week, he saw a friend outside of the school, so he gave me a high-five good bye instead of a kiss. Garrett is still my little boy….but I can feel the change coming. One day soon he’s gonna pick the DS in his room alone over checkers on the floor with mom. He’s going to cross the street on his own, venture out of our neighborhood on his bike, and he’s not gonna need me to reach the band-aids because he’ll be taller than I am.

My kids are growing up…but…
My kids still think I’m cool…
My kids still want me around…
and my kids are still residing firmly under my wing….mostly.

I want to be around as much as I can and still run my business and that means changing up a few priorities….my weekend sitting fees being one of them.

One day my kids will realize I’m really not very cool and they’ll not want me around as much.
They will be driving and they will have friends they’ll hang out with all weekend.
I know that day is coming and it’s ok with me, it’s a part of the growing up…and when that happens I’ll photograph anyone, anywhere, anytime….all weekend long.

But until then, I have clothes to pick out and bandaids to reach.

My boy had his tonsils taken out yesterday morning….not the way I would choose for him to spend his Spring Break, but he did sooooooo good and last night he slept great, slept all through the night…and no more snoring!

The rest of our break will be spent being as “low key” as a mom can ask a 6 year old boy to be. I have plans for a movie a day in the theatre, a movie a day from Blockbuster, feeding the ducks at the pond, fishing and maybe some bikes and skateboarding…..hey….that IS low-key for Garrett.

Hope you’re spring break is going well and is more fun that my G-man’s break…..although….did YOU get to eat chocolate pudding for breakfast today?!?!

It is Spring Break!

If you don’t believe me just ask my kids who, as I picked them up from school announced to me that “It’s spring break – that means no school for a whole week so can we go home and watch tv and have some popcorn pleeeeeeeeease”

I will be working over the break, but it’ll be from home.

Monday is a kid-day. Don’t know what we’ll be doing but it’ll be with my kids

Tuesday is Mommy-day. I’ll be in Dallas with girlfriends shopping and playing and spending as much time as we want deciding between drop-down earrings or hoops.

Wednesday Wednesday is a day that we all saw coming but it still makes me sad. My G is having his tonsils taken out Wednesday so it’s what we at the Benoit-casa are referring to as “Popsicle Day” because he gets to eat as many as he wants!!!! (gulp)

Thursday & Friday I have a few shoots and will do doing some work depending on how much time off of work Matt can swing and how G is doing.

So – just a “heads up” on that.
If you need me call or e-mail – I will be working and responding, it will just be around my boy and his needs.
