I need to see some love….or a “get outta jail free” card!!!!

Filed under: Professional — Micki Benoit @ 4:09 am

Ok blog – I know you all are out there….time to show some love.

I’m nowhere close the goal whoever put me in jail set for me – they thought I could raise $2500 via my blog and I’ve raised an embarrassing $182.  :(  I go to jail tomorrow and I’m not one to bring my cell phone to make calls….but… ouch, at $182 they might keep me in there for a few days.  ;)

So – it’s time to have a heart and donate a buck to the Muscular Distrophy Association!!!!

I have stats on my site that I can see how many hits I get a day, and by my math if I have an average viewing day in the next 24 hours and everyone donates $50 I’ll hit my goal easy…..

Come on gang.  you can do it via the internet, it’s tax deductible and I personally think that if you take the time to do stuff like this then karma meets you 1/2 way and maybe tomorrow you’ll hit all green lights or something like that. :)

So – Click here: HAVE A HEART and donate.

Thanks for the love!!

They call me “MiMi” and I’m in love with all 3 of ‘em.

Carlee DeLana Bernard.  Newborn.
She is an amazing little girl already – letting her mama sleep, eating like a pro, and yeah…showing signs of being just a little bit of a diva.

Jason Ray.  5.
Saying J-Ray is the first-born is the undestatement of the day. Janson has it all under control right now, he can explain to you the rules of having a baby in the house, the specifics of nursing and why he deserves a new skateboard….all without taking a breath.

Maddox Joe. 3.
If suddenly he comes up missing it’s cause I took him. He has been the sweet boy who listens, obeys and doesn’t cause troubles….then a few month ago someone reminded thim that he’s 3. He says something that makes me laugh outloud every time I see him and can still light up a room with his smile and baby-blue eyes.

I gave into the huge flower bow and did some pix for Holly for her newborn shoot….on one condition – we had to take it off for some and I didn’t have to admit outloud that I kinda liked it. ;) Let’s face it – anything on this baby girl is gonna be precious in my eyes. And fyi – for anyone paying attention – she already has more shoes than I do.

ok….I heard from a lot of you how much fun it was to comment (in other words, vote for Chad)

……insert eye-roll here…… ;)

<\strong>So I’ll keep my comments on – but if you don’t hear from me, it’s because I’m lost in the internet sea of spam….gonna try to get my computer-guy to help me figure this one out for good this time.

So….comment away blog!

A first…

Not for Christy – this is baby #2 for her.
A first….for me.

In 7 years it’s never happened.

In 7 years I’ve done a lot of things, I’ve tripped on shoots, slid down hills on my buttox, laid down in antpiles and I’ve held out my hand for kids to spit gum out into. I have wiped snot, baby bottoms and unknown pieces of unknown stuff from toddlers mouths. I have forgotten props, I’ve driven around lost and I’ve called a dad Steve the entire way through a shoot, even though his name was Roger. But on this shoot I amazed even myself with my absentmindedness.

I forgot my camera.
Yep! The photographer showed up to the shoot without her camera.
Top that.

Geez!!! Needless to say I was mortified, began apologizing over and over and over again and thank God it was Christy, the most flexible client in the world, so we just hopped in the car & drove to my house – she listened to me say “I swear, I’ve never done this” 100 times, we got the camera, found a location that was easy and started shooting. (insert slap of palm to forehead here)

Anyway -enough on me…..here’s Christy.

Ah maternity pix, some of my favorite. There is something about the inner strength, literally and figuratively, of an expecting mom that amazes and astounds me.

Blogstalker-regulars, you know Christy. She was a bride, then she brought my daughter in for Seasonal shoots last year (yeah – you read it wright….last year) and now they are expecting their second daughter any day now. She is the kinda client that becomes a friend and I love that about her. She’s not a big fan of me posting photo after photo of her tummy but here are 2 I had to share.

Havin’ a little fun

Filed under: Professional — Micki Benoit @ 7:25 pm

This is one of the many reasons why I love my job….

Remember my motorcycle designing/building groom Jason Wonder?

Well he and his wife were in my studio giving the final look at their album yesterday and we started talking bikes – he’s on his way to an international show and needs business cards. He asked who did mine. Our conversation went something like this:

“Who designed your cards for you?
“I do”
“Really? Can you make me some”
“Sure!”

….about that time Chad Crowley called to talk about a project we are working on, he also did the video for the show Jason is about to attend. Chad is a graphic designer and designs business cards….HeeHee. OUR conversation went something like this:

“Hey, crazy timing! I’m here talking to Jason!”
“Cool! Tell him hi!”
“I’m designing him a business card for his cycle-show”
……..long pause…….” YOU are designing it for him?!?!”
…………….longer pause….. “ah, yeah….cause he knows I’m the BEST!!!!”
“um, Micki, you take pretty pictures and all but…..really?”
“um, Chad, it’s ON!”

So – here ya go blog – Jason is leaving it up to you to decide which card he’s gonna go with – the sexy motorcycle picture card or the boooooooooring 2 sided card (yawn) ;) HeeHee

Here is my design…..

So – I’m gonna filter through all of the spam I get when I turn on my comments on for Jason.

LEAVE A COMMENT & VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN
We are ordering Friday people!
Jason is leaving the decision up to the people!!!

(side note….for all eyes except Chad’s…..He’s VERY talented and VERY outside-of-the box people so if you all are looking for a website, logo, marketing or image identification for your business – contact Chad!)

But when you shoot 3 sisters, nothing beats going to daddies backyard pool to do what sisters do.

Carlee

Filed under: Professional — Micki Benoit @ 7:54 pm

It’s funny how life works.

I’ve never really LOVED someone elses kids like I love the Bernards (can’t call ‘em the Bernard-Boys anymore)

I became friends with Holly as she was pregnant with Janson, I love that boy, always did.

As she was pregnant with Maddox I found myself really and honestly scared that I wouldn’t be able to love him like I loved Janson. I’d already had my 2nd child, but these kids weren’t mine…so I was truly scared. I put forth a lot of effort to bond with him, to cuddle with him, all with a hidden agenda – so that I could love him as much….little did I know how much I’d love that blue-eyed-boy.

Baby Carlee however has been different for me – I literally loved her before she was born. There were a lot of prayers surrounding her conception, pregnancy and birth…that might be it, maybe it’s because I’ve become all the closer to Holly, maybe it’s the “girl thing” – I’m not sure – but yesterday when I FINALLY got to hold her I had this feeling in my heart like “well hello there little one who I already know and love” It was truly peaceful.

Blog, meet Carlee DeLana Bernard.
